Dark License to Kill: Goldeneye: Facility

Dark License to Kill

Dark License to Kill is a way of playing Goldeneye or Perfect Dark (both N64 games by Rare) in which the enemies have 1000% health, maximum reflexes, 100% accuracy, and kill in a single hit.

Though I came up with this idea independently, I was disappointed to see that it had already been done before on both the Facility level and the Archives (both in Goldeneye) as shown here:

Undeterred, I wish to post a video of my own Dark LTK Facility run, which is a comparatively sluggish eleven minutes long but, I think, still enjoyable. It's not the cleanest run ever. Mistakes were made including, but not limited to the following:
-missed head shots
-slippery fingers when switching guns
-poor timing on explosive crates right at the start (that guard at the end of the hall)

Hopefully others can still use the video as a guide for their own runs on the Facility.

TIPS

Just outside the bathroom don't fire volleys of more than 2 pp7 shots at a time or the guards might hear you.

Ammo crates look like they are made out of wood and don't explode much. They aren't useful for killing but you may need the ammo. High explosive crates look like cardboard.

15 kalashnikov chest shots kill a guard. 10 pp7 head shots kill a guard.

There are many different options for how to defeat Facility. I used to avoid the helmeted guards that run in from behind by hiding behind the pillar in the locker room until they leave, but I think it makes the level take longer generally.

WALKTHROUGH

This is going to be general. Refer to the video for more information and specifics.

Start off immediately. Don't wait for the intro scene.

Outside of the bathroom "prepare" three boxes (two on the lower level) and by prepare I mean shoot four times.

Wait for the two patrolling guards to walk near the farther of the two boxes on the lower level then blow it. This should kill both of them (unlike in the video).

Be careful that the guard at the end of the hall doesn't see you. If he does, kill him by blowing the other nearer box on the lower level.

By this time another guard will have climbed the stairs behind you. Hide around the corner then blow the box to kill him.

Next go over to the landing where the guard came up and kill the guard at the bottom of the stairs with your pp7. The guard won't come after you as long as he doesn't "see" you. This guard is really really stupid.

Then go down the stairs and kill the guard with the key by blowing up the crate next to him.

Then go to the room with the beakers off the main hall way. Prep the nearest crate then run around to the other side of the doorway. Slowly edge forward so that you aren't seen by the far guard (there are two in the beaker room). Blow up the crate in front of the far guard then quickly blow up the box right in front of you. The other guard in the room will run towards the door after you kill his buddy. Be careful that the door doesn't shut in your face while you are doing this.

Next put a remote mine on top of what remains of the crates in the nook of the stair case. Go to the bathroom anteroom and get out your kalashnikov. Hold down the trigger (fire at least ten rounds) and back out of the anteroom and around the corner on the second floor, then detonate the remote mine. This will take some careful timing and you may want to practice blindly backing around the corner so you don't snag on anything.

As soon as the mine goes off get your kalashnikov back out in case some guards are still alive.

Collect all the ammo in this portion of the level before activating the remote door and moving onwards.

Enter the locker room and kill the near guard by blasting him with your kalashnikov. Make sure the other doesn't see you, then run back out of the remote door. Be quick. Scientists fleeing the level occassionally open inconvenient doors allowing guards to see you.

Prepare the boxes outside the room outside the locker room. Kill the helmeted guards by shooting them and/or blowing up the boxes.

Go back to the locker room and kill the other guard. Next put a remote mine above the door, then sucker out the three guards from the next room. Open the door from the side so you are out of sight. Then run past the door while firing your rifle. This isn't suicidal even though the guards have 100% reflexes. Shut the door and hang back towards the lockers. All three guards will run back to the door.

Next go to the room with the "No secret agents" sign. Crouch to the left of the door and open it. Edge to the right until you can just barely see the far wall or as far as possible without a guard shooting you. Throw a remote mine and try to hit the far wall. Then get out your rifle. When a patrol sees you unload on him sufficiently to get the attention of lots of nearby guards. Then shut the door, detonate the mine, and get your rifle back out quickly. Kill any latecomers or guards that survived the blast.

All the guards your side of the next pair of remote doors should be dead now. Sucker out the guard on the other side of the remote door with a few rifle rounds. Retreat to the room with the two remote door openers and kill him there so his friends don't hear.

Next go through the left remote door. Throw a mine up on the wall or ceiling over the right shoulder (your left) of the leftmost guard beneath the stairs. Then go upstairs and without shooting get the first guard to chase after you. Detonate the mine as you run down the stairs.

Throw a mine at the foot of the stairs in case more guards come. Sometimes they see one of the guards up stairs get killed by the blast and they come running. If necessary detonate the mine and then shoot any more guards that come.

Finally, go up stairs. Be careful for more guards. Sucker them downstairs one at a time if more remain. There are two guards in the corner. To kill them, get their attention by giving them a glimpse of you then ducking into the glass room on your right. Shoot them through the glass door. Stand against the door so they can't open it. Use this technique to kill the two guards outside the decoder door as well.

Check in with Dr. Doak. This may require backtracking if you didn't explore the side rooms earlier.

Sucker out the guards in the bottling room by shooting the glass. Hide behind the glass door in the room next to the decoder door and kill them. Then enter the bottling room. Prepare as many gas cylinders as possible by shooting them four times before talking to Trevelyan.

When Trevelyan says "fate" it is usually safe to start blowing up the gas cylinders. Use your pp7 so that the guards above the stairs don't come down. Open the door out of the level beforehand so your escape route is ready. Once the last bottle is destroyed, run out.

Stunts like this one and others, possibly even harder, are a dime a dozen on this outrageous website.

If you get frustrated, just let it out.
