I had an idea to relieve my recent wrist pain from too much mouse use and it really helps especially for short people with tall desks or otherwise awkward work environments. If you have a laser mouse (as opposed to those old roller ball mice), and most everyone does nowadays, you don't need a mousepad. Just put the mouse on your leg and you won't have to awkwardly reach for the damn thing on your desk. Your hand and arm will be almost as relaxed as if your hand is just resting comfortably on your leg. The mouse responds just as well moving on a leg (better with pants) as it does on a table or any other surface.
It sounds silly, but this was a revelation for me. Perhaps everyone else knows this and no one told me.
